Our History


JUN 20 1964
Founding

Pioneering ChEs including Engrs. Elsa Roska, Antonio Enriquez, and Antonio "Dodong" Osmeña formed the PIChE Cebu Chapter in a gathering at the Colegio de San Jose-Recoletes to address the need of an organization for Cebuano Chemical Engineers. Engr. Cesar Dakay was elected as the chapter's first President.

Presentation of Chapter Charter

PIChE National President Prospero Uy Barretta inducted the elected Chapter officers into office and presented the Charter Certfcate of the chapter at the Casino Español. Together with Chapter President Dakay were: Antonio Enriquez (Vice President), Marietta Tan (Secretary), Federico Gimenez Jr (Treasurer), Jesus Alcordo (PRO), Antonio Osmeña (Director) and Prudencio Campos Jr (Director).


JAN 24 1965
PIChE Silver Jubilee

PIChE celebrated its Silver Jubilee with a symposium and ball. On the same event, PIChE Cebu's second President Federico Gimenez Jr was inducted. The very first hosting of the oathtaking of ChEs was held on the same day.


JUN 27-28 1969
1969 National Convention

PIChE Cebu hosted its first PIChE National Convention with the theme "Chemical Engineering Education in the Philippines."


FEB 19-21 1976
1976 National Convention

PIChE Cebu hosted its second PIChE National Convention with the theme "Management of Industrial Processes" at the University of San Carlos - Technological Center and the San Miguel Corporation - Mandaue Plant.


MAR 20 1987
SEC Registration

PIChE Cebu was duly established and registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit organization by 15 Cebuano chemical engineers as its incorporators with the primary purpose of promoting and developing the Chemical Engineering profession through the active participation and involvement of its members.

Resurgence at the 2019 General Assembly

A General Assembly held at the Crowne Garden Hotel was attended by 148 ChEs from 133 institutions and companies to elect a new set of Board Directors to usher a new era of the Chapter.

2021
Ratification

Ratified its new organization and bylaws. By doing so, we aim to ensure that our practices and policies are in line with the changing needs of our stakeholders and the society we serve

PIChE – Cebu Chapter coorganized the Professional Regulatory Commission Region VII Professional Run (PRORun) 2022

PIChE Cebu & Cebu City Septage Management Board

PIChE – Cebu Chapter was appointed as a member in the Cebu City Septage Management Board.

OCT 22 2022

Pakighimamat

The first Pakighimamat: Cebu Chemical Engineers’ Conference and General Assembly.

DEC 30 2022

Sayod

PIChE – Cebu Chapter officially launches Sayod Publication Issue 1.

Cebu Water Summit

PIChE – Cebu Chapter, in partnership with USC – Water Resources Center, PUM Netherlands, and Nature’s Spring organized the first Cebu Water Summit.

DEC 8-9 2023
2nd Pakighimamat

PIChE Cebu held its second Pakighimamat in conjuction with the Young Asian Biological Engineers Community (YABEC) - South Symposium and the University of San Carlos Bio+ Symposium.
